Why We Love the Baby Wolf
Our Baby Wolf loom is the most uncompromising small loom available today. It has all the advantages of portability while maintaining the best big loom features. If compactness and portability are what you are looking for, you’ll be interested in this thoughtfully engineered loom.
The weaving width of the Baby Wolf is 26″. You have your choice of 4 or 8 shafts (also called harnesses), or the 4 Now-4 Later model. The X-frame design is exceptionally stable and can be folded to a depth of 18″.
The adjustable beater allows the position of the shuttle race to be raised or lowered if necessary. The Baby Wolf employs a friction brake on the warp beam that lets you advance the warp smoothly.

They are lovely looms, but the treadles are much too narrow for my challenged feet. My feet need wide pedals.
Thanks - this is exactly what I needed! ❤
Glad it was helpful!
I am loving it. Thanks Eileen.
Thnku so much for good tutorial! After few days of practice i finally got it right ❤
Thanks so much for your kind message! We are happy to hear you found it helpful.
So on a 4 shaft loom, would you warp straight twill 12341234 and weave tabby 13, 24, 13, 24? Thanks!
Yes - that is exactly correct. Enjoy!
Thanks for this helpful video. It's much more straightforward, and therefore easier to follow ,than the written instructions.
We're happy to hear it was helpful!
Quiero u. Telar en donde lo puedo conseguir
¡Gracias por preguntar! Aquí tienes todos nuestros telares de suelo: schachtspindle.com/collections/looms?filter.p.m.custom.loom_type=shaft
Thank you so much for this video. The instructions that came with my Cricket loom were not helpful and this video is so clear!
We're happy to hear it was helpful!
The flatiron is soo beautiful
This was very helpful! I thought I was pretty good at carding, but it takes me so long! I was very surprised to hear you say that hand carding is faster for you than drum carding. I've been looking at drum carders but they are so expensive, so if I can get much more efficient at hand carding, I may just stick to that. I do enjoy it, just want to be able to get through ounces and pounds faster. Thank you again!
Thanks so much for your kind message!
Hi, I’m new to weaving, and would like to start out with a smaller loom. I like the needle type. Which loom would you suggest?
Thanks so much for reaching out! Please email us at info@schachtspindle.com and we will help you figure out what will be the best fit for you.
If I tried to break my singles apart in that way I'd be most likely break my fingers than the yarn 😅😅 Thank you for sharing your wonderful skills ❤❤
Thank you both for your inspiring conversation. I am amazed by Madelyn's first weaving- OMG!! The Love of Weaving is a good thing to share! Keep inspiring us all!
Thanks so much for your kind message! Happy weaving!
This doesn’t mention the warp capacity for the cricket. Stopped watching after that because that’s what I’m trying to figure out.
Thanks so much for your message! The capacity depends on what type of yarn you're using and the warp separator you're using. However, we recommend starting with about 4-5 yards maximum, and adjusting that number depending on those factors. Please feel free to reach out with questions and happy weaving!
What length is the texsolve heddle?
Thanks for your message! They are 8-5/8". Happy weaving!
Thank you
Love your products and work ethics
Hello, Why do you place the background weft in the same shed as the inlay weft?
Good question! There are many types of inlay - some that have the background weft and inlay weft in the same shed and some that use different sheds for the background weft and the inlay weft. This video is showing plain weave inlay, but our course here: schachtspindle.com/products/2428341 shows three different types of inlay.
Excellent tutorial! Clear and concise.
After watching a lot of video's, now I know how to make this knot. Thank you so much
Endlich habe ich die Technik für diesen Knoten gefunden. Habe ihn auch gleich ausprobiert, klappt prima. Danke für die gute Anleitung👍💐👍
Danke schön!
Do you sell used looms and how much
Thanks for reaching out! We have a Warehouse Sale coming up in May where we will be selling used and older model equipment. Here is the link to the event: schachtspindle.com/pages/school-of-textile-arts-events?event-id=25652
How much is that loom please Esther
Good question! Here is the link to our looms: schachtspindle.com/collections/looms
I had such a hard time figuring out this knot until I watched your video in particular. Thanks so much!
We're happy to hear it!
On the double weave pickup how do you sley the reed. Some videos say 4 per dent and miss a dent. Can you please let me know how you do it. Thank you x
Thanks for reaching out and good question! Here is the link to the project that went along with this video: schachtspindle.com/blogs/projects/leo-the-cat-doubleweave-using-pick-up-sticks. Anu threaded 4 per dent in a 10 dent reed. Happy weaving!
Thank you for the threading and tie up. Great video. No one else show threading or tie up or what treadles to lift so you haven't a clue what they are talking about and shut down the video. Thank you very much for this full explanation x
Thanks so much for your kind message! We are happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Do you know how to do false damask pick up? There are a few videos on RUclips but without a tie up and not knowing what's tied up to the treadles they are a complete waste of time. False damask is a 3/1 twill and a 1/3 twill giving both weft faced and warped faced on the front of the cloth. It's normally treadled 1324 instead of 1234. That part is quite easy but it's the pick up part I cannot get to work. This weave structure will create a picture drawn on a graph just like double weave pickup but the cloth will be one layer as opposed to two layers. I would be grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you x
Gotta say, as a gamedev knowing nothing about weaving and trying to learn basic terms/concepts to better simulate mechanics, every "terminology" or "glossary" type resource I found was incredibly hard to understand (lots of assumed knowledge), but this video was amazingly clear, concise, and beginner-friendly. Appreciate you making it.
Thanks so much for your kind message! We are happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Very beautiful good work
I really wanted a cherry matchless, and several years ago I spent the money and got one. I have loved it. Something about the old model single treadle in maple seemed to draw me. I was patient and found one. I had to do some reconditioning, and it has become wonderful also. It is a different experience, but it is very satisfying. I’m like Maggie!
You doo AMAZING job exsplaing and right to the point not wasting any time, this makes it easy to learn. Great tutorial I look forward to many more
Thanks for your kind message. Happy weaving!
now this is a great tutorial
How do you write your patterns? A computer program?
Good question! All the information on how Anu developed the pattern and wove it is available here: schachtspindle.com/blogs/projects/leo-the-cat-doubleweave-using-pick-up-sticks
Just rewatched this video - love you both, Stephanie & Maggie!
This helped. Putting the loom together was pretty straight forward until it was time to attach the cords. The directions were not clear at all. Thanks.
What do you do for the next row. Do you pick the same warp or you alternate
Great question! Jane discusses this further in her free online, self-paced Tapestry Weave Along online course: schachtspindle.com/products/explore-tapestry-weave-along
i just got an inkle loom for christmas. the manual wasn't clear enough, imo that's pretty typical of most manuals for just about anything. this should be much clearer. i'll save this to watch later so i can go back.
Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it and we hope the video helps as you start on your inkle weaving journey. Schacht also offers an online beginner inkle weaving course. You can learn at your own pace, on your own schedule, and have lifetime access to it! schachtspindle.com/products/inkle-weaving-keychains If you have any questions, please reach out to us at info@schachtspindle.com. Happy weaving!
Good tutorial. Music like a Chinese water torture.
I miss Shuttles S and S! Judy was my weaving instructor. Now I am kind of on my own. It was special.

Best of Best.thanks
Very helpful and clear! Thanks 😊
Best tutorial I've seen yet. Have not warped my first time yet, still too nervous to try. Everyone emphasizes keeping the crossover intact, but I haven't been able to figure out what the point of the crossover is.
Thank you for the kind words! We encourage you giving it a try and troubleshooting from there! You can also take our free online course, "Getting Started with the Cricket Quartet" to help you kickstart your Quartet journey - textileschool.schachtspindle.com/courses/getting-started-with-the-cricket-quartet And, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at info@schachtspindle.com or call us at 303-442-3212!
@@schachtspindle The getting started guide is very helpful. Thanks to you all for making that available.
I staarted weaving five years ago, and you were my first teacher. I leaarned only from online and books. I have gone on to weave many tapestries, large ones, and I owe you a lot. Thank you
This is the 'proper ' way to work with the mechanics of the wheel . It is the wheel that does the drafting while you skillfully draw back . It really doesn't matter what the ratios are - it always works with this technique . Great demo . Well done
Thank you!
please add a link to more info about this! I would love to make some woven mug rugs
Hi there! You can click the View products button in the video and the Zoom Loom will pop up. Or, you can visit schachtspindle.com/products/zoom-loom . Either will take you to the Zoom Loom. There you can order and start planning designs for your upcoming woven mug rugs!
Can you slow it down some? Too fast!
This is part of an upcoming class, Dyeing for Weaving, and we we will be releasing real time footage in the near future! Stay tuned :)
I would love to see more of this craft in particular, please? ❤
Explications parfaites mais en effet, cette musique, trop forte, est horripilante et nuit à la compréhension :)
